Hi there everyone out there in bloggerland! My name is Janis and I live on the West Coast of Canada with my husband and 2 children. I have two close friends ( Lee http://fullplate321.blogspot.com/ and Elle http://adayinthelifeofelle.blogspot.com/ ) who blog and have convinced me to start blogging as a "vent" for my daily trials and tribulations.
My kids names are Gareth(4) and Carys (3) and they are the absolute JOYS of my life but can also take me to some "darker" parts of my personality I never knew existed. Being soo close in age, there have been some trying times but we get thru one day at a time and try to laugh as much as we can without being brought to tears. My husband works in law enforcement and is the love of my life. We had a bit of a rocky start dating but after setting the man straight that I was the woman of his dreams, we got on with our lives. Since then we haven't looked back and spend our days trying to balance the kids, work and our sanity.
Gareth is 4 turning 5 next month and is a very inquistive, funny, loving, happy, little guy. He was a dream baby and slept all the time and anywhere. He loves any kind of sport, particularily one that involves a ball and can run for ages. We have him in a sportsball class right now and he is loving it and I think it's great for him to meet other kids his own age. He goes to preschool right now and is enrolled for Kindergarten in the Fall. Carys is a whole OTHER personality. She is a "go go GO" girl who rarely stops to smell the roses. She loves, loves LOVES horses (did I say LOVES enough?) and really enjoys other kids and playing in a park setting. She is also a dance lover and is enrolled in Kinderdance at our local rec center and is the girl going around tapping the exercise balls with her ribbon wand rather than listening to the teacher. She just turned 3 in November and is in preschool as well. It's a challenge for us to try and get her to stop and focus but she is slowing with age so we can hope that this trend will continue. They keep me going from sun up to sun down running around the backyard chasing moths ("butterflies") and digging up worms in the garden. They truly are a labour of love!!
I am a dental hygienist in town here and have been doing that for almost 9 years now. Hard to believe where 9 years have gone but my diploma proves that I have indeed almost met the 10yr mark. I love my job as weird as that may sound to some people. I always equate it to how I love to clean up a messy room. I really don't want to do it at first, but once I get in there and clean it all up and see what a difference I made, I just LOVE it!! It can get rather monontonous but I love working with MOST people and love the adult interaction.
I am also currently training for our local 10K race here that takes place on April 29th. I was never a runner before kids. I hated running...LOATHED it actually. But after gaining 60lbs with my first child and then another 50lbs with the second something DRASTIC needed to happen. I did lose a bit in between pregnancies but was still not at my ideal weight. So now I am running about 19Km's a week and lifting weights on my off days. I am doing BFL (Body For Life) which alternates cardio and weight lifting and focuses on balancing your proteins and carbs at each meal. I had EXCELLENT results with this 2 years ago and I am determined to get back there again!! Really makes me mad that I let it go again! I need to realize that this is my life now...Iwill ALWAYS have a weight issue and need to keep it in check at ALL times. No rest for me now if I want to stay happy. This ass will always be running, walking, swimming, biking, doing pilates or weight lifting to try and keep the fat monster at bay. A little fact that I HATE but have come to accept. Damn fat monster!!
So that is us and I look forward to getting on here and sharing my daily musings and occurences with you all. So nice to meet you and look forward to getting to know you better!!
