So it has finally come. The day of the Times Colonist 10Km. I THINK I am ready but that will be determined tomorrow on the warm, hard pavement. We could not have any better weather than this I tell ya!! It is gorgeous here today (like almost 20's) and tomorrow is supposed to be even better!! YIPPEE!!! Hope it isn't THAT hot by the water...kinda sucks your energy dry when you're all hot and sweaty and no breeze.
We run right along Dallas Rd. which is the LONG road that goes right along the ocean. Guess if it gets TOO hot I could take a hard left into the drink but that would add to my time. I am TRYING to beat 57 mins....that was last year's time and it will be hard to do. I was a little lighter last year but was also battling a harsh cold. I am excited tho!!! It's amazing the energy you get from the people around you!! The first half of the run you are all on a high from everyone around you running, then the second half it starts to sink in that you are maybe getting tired and the legs are getting weaker. You just have to pull through it and persevere..it DOES get better. The best is when you round the corner by the Parliament buildings and you see the finish line and hear the announcer yelling your name and you try to suck it up and muster whatever strength you have left to cross that finish line looking stylin....have yet to do that so maybe I'll try again tomorrow..lmao. They take a pic of you just crossing the finish line and I always look like DEATH. Catch me on the down stride and look all discombobulated.....well WISH ME LUCK!!!
