Birthday invites...

Ahhh May...sound of birds, warmer weather and BIRTHDAY SEASON!! The end of April starts a whole series of family birthdays that goes right till the end of August. It's like one after another and you need to budget for it like Christmas!!

So May 22nd is Gareth's 5th birthday and we are having our first real "kid birthday" for the little guy. He'll be soo excited to have his friends there and have fun opening presents...will be soo neat to watch. We have hired "Parties with Pizzazz" to run the party in a Pirate theme. They bring costumes, music, decorations and do games and crafts with the kids so I can sit back and watch my little guy have fun and not stress about where the hell my donkey is to pin a tail onto.

We sat down this afternoon on the couch and went through who he would like to invite to his party and to my utter AMAZEMENT he is inviting a GIRL! omg a FEMALE?? he doesn't even know one girl's name in his class if you ask him but all of a sudden "Sophie" is really nice to him and he wants to invite her!! I was sooo happy on the inside!! I know I will wish for him to NOT invite girls later in life (like say around 13) but for a guy who never mentions ANY girls in his class upon ENDLESS questioning, I was pleasantly surprised! The only other female at the party will be my daughter who is 3.5 yrs and I was glad that she would have a girl counterpart there to play with...yippee!!

So today us all about ordering pirate napkins, plates and balloons and getting some invites done up. I have printed some off on the computer all "pirate-like" and I am going to burn the edges and then roll them up and wrap some twine around them (how creative eh?) I am hoping that alot of the kids can come because it is a holiday weekend here which may become a problem but I HOPE not....ugh.....HOPE with me people..HOPE!!!
